What is a data center?
Updated June 20, 2011Wikipedia defines a data center (or datacentre) as a facility used to house computer systems and associated components, such as telecommunications and storage systems. It generally includes redundant or backup power supplies, redundant data communications connections, environmental controls (e.g., air conditioning, fire suppression) and security devices.
It is sometimes referred to as a server room, carrier hotel, telehousing suite or a computer closet in some organisations.
