What is a private VLAN and why would I use it?
Updated September 23, 2011A VLAN acts like a private gigabit ethernet switch connecting your servers together via a second virtual ethernet card in each server. This network is isolated from the internet and other customers. Bandwidth over a VLAN is not chargeable.
To set up a VLAN, firstly purchase a private VLAN subscription. Then add it to your account in the control panel. Then, edit each server’s configuration to use your private VLAN.
Private VLAN can only be set up within a single Sublime Cloud location, so any traffic sent between our different global locations (e.g. between Europe and the USA) will be charged at the standard rates.
